well, actually if you do use cling wrap to cover the mask first, you can always go over the eye holes if you want a glass head does sound really cool though!

im looking forward to seeing your mask, it sounds really neat!

Plastic masks.... The thought never occured to me. Hmmm...
Then again, as I go for full-face masks with closed eyes, such a mask might not be enough. (and a glas head is a pretty interesting "model" for photo shoots when not used to make the masks on, too )
Though maybe I'll try going for wearable masks at some later point. My masks are/will be for deco, hung at the wall. My forest mask is almost finished. Will submit photos as soon as I'm done, next weekend the latest, I hope.

As for the beads: I'll try looking for patterns online to get a feel for it.

i bought a plastic full face mask (easily found in most craft stores) and made sure that it was pretty sturdy (not the flimsy sort) and then put a layer of cling wrap/ seran wrap over the face so its easy to pull the paper off when you're done. actually, i learned how to make masks from ~EMasqueradeGallery's tutorial, so you can go there and take look.

oh.. for the animals i have a really old book that i bought when i was around 10.. heh heh. its all in japanese but fairly easy to understand. when i come up with designs, i use the old ones in the book as a template. and while i really hate planning, its kind of important to do so i have an idea in mind first. but along the way you find that the design doesnt work in some places so you modify them (like say you added too many or too few beads in one row) or you find that twisting the wire in some places helps to make your beaded item look better.

What do you use to model your masks on? I've used a (borrowed) glass head for the last few days. Too bad I can't keep it. Still have no clue how to get one myself without having to order.

And the bead projects I was most interested in were the animals. I've made some in the past, but I used patterns (which I can't find anymore *sigh*). Same goes for a bracelet I did years ago... Is it easy to come up with new designs? Do you plan beforehand or do you just start and see where it takes you?

hm.. tips? well, make the bits of paper smaller for paper mache because its hard when you make the nose piece and around the eyes too. also smoothing the layers out and make sure that there arent any air bubbles because those gave me some problems..

which bead projects are you asking about for patterns? for the beaded dolls, the bleach ones were designed by myself. bracelets and necklaces are mostly my own designs inspired off other people's work or just simple run of the mill techniques heheeh

Care to help me out? I'm about to make masks too. Any tips? What do you make the masks with? Paper-mâché? Other stuff?
